Sara Flynn's vessels are distinctive for their strong forms
coupled with an experimental & sensitive approach
to colour. All of the work is wheel-thrown. Some pieces are
worked on further with alterations to the wet form. The pieces
all have Sara's sealmark applied, adding subtle decorative detail.
Glazes are applied by spraying, presenting possibilities for
layered colours in both complimentary & contrasting tones.
The work is fired in an electric kiln to 1280 Oc. The range
includes vases, sculptural vessels, bowls and candle-cups.
Located on Main Street in Kinsale, The Gallery
is directly adjacent to the workshop, with work at various stages
of completion always evident. All of Sara's work is brought
from clay-state to finished pot on the premises. Having direct
contact with the customer in this way allows for constant feedback
on new ideas, directions & colours. This results in frequent
subtle changes to the work - stimulating both Maker & Client.
The gallery also periodically exhibits pieces by other artists
working in various disciplines - ceramics, textiles, printmaking
etc.
